Summer Reading Program

The kids and I have been so excited about the summer reading program that just started at the Kalispell Library. The theme this year is creativity, so they have planned storytime with extra fun stuff like music and art. The photo above was taken at the library with the instructor from the North Valley Music School letting the kids try out various instruments.
Along with that the kids also track all the time they spend reading (or being read to) and after they read five hours they can go pick out a prize. Josiah has gotten a pass to the local water park the last two years. I'm curious to see what he will pick this year. The program started on Monday and both Eve and Josiah have over five hours! I'm shocked by how quickly we accumulated so many hours. Josiah loves listening to audio books and will listed to them for literally hours at a time. Grandlee also sent a big box of Ben's old books to us this week and the kids can't get enough! So, we'll be heading to the library soon. Any hours they read beyond the 5 required for the prize the library will donate $1 to the animal shelter.
