Library

I think the Library is one of the most brilliant things our government has ever come up with. We go to our local library at least once a week if not more. I have a huge L.L bean canvas bag that I somehow manage to lug up those steps along with my three children. My favorite way to get books is to place a hold on books online. That way they come right to me on the shelving at the front of the library and I don't have to corral my children around the library looking for something. I use Amazon to browse for books or to look them up whenever I hear about a new one. They often come through inter library loan.

There are two new ways to use the library that I've discovered recently! My friend is starting a book club and she was worried about everyone having to buy a book every month. It turns out that the library has book club kits complete with 6 copies of a book and discussion questions. One person checks out the books for the group and can keep it for 5 weeks.

The other way is downloading audio books for free! I am currently listening to "This I believe II: More personal philosophies of remarkable men and women." This audio book is in the voices of those who wrote the essays which adds another element to the book. I also enjoy it because I can knit while I listen to it:) You can listen on your computer, download it to an MP3 player, or burn it on a CD. Eventually they will also have music and video. I'm hoping to find some children's books that Josiah will like.

If Blockbuster is making me wait a long time for a movie, I can often get it quicker through the library.

I love the library too and it just occured to me this week to use audio books so I can read and knit at the same time. The best of both worlds! I think its also a great place to find knitting patterns for free. And I just finished This I believe (the first one). How is part 2?

You probably know this, but "This I Believe" is a regular feature on NPR.
