"On Christmas morning we'll wake up bright and early, Be the first ones out of bed, with the mistletoe above my head On Christmas morning we can sing and celebrate, and make the feeling stay all through the day"
This excerpt from one of my favorite Raffi songs rang true for our family this year, except that we've managed to make the feeling stay all week!
After gift opening we drove to Coeur D Alene, ID for the annual Miller Christmas gathering. It was great to see my extended family since we haven't been able to attend for several years. That evening we drove to my dad's house, about 1 1/2 hours, and have been staying in his cabin in the woods. This has been our best winter visit ever since the kids are able to enjoy being outside in the snow. Bundled up head to toe they venture outside to sled, explore the woods, play on the frozen creek or frozen pond, hunt for the cats, or whatever else they come up with. This place is a true winter wonderland!
Today we're working on all the preparations for the annual New Years Eve sledding party, which includes campfires, tiki torches, and lots of dry warm clothes . The driveway has proven to be a little too dangerous for the kids to sled on so we're finding some alternative routes for them this year.
And somehow in the middle of all this fun we managed to have Evie's 3rd birthday party, complete with a chocolate cake and more presents! She felt like a princess in her new dress from Grandma.
I hope all of you had as much fun, warmth, and love during your holiday season.

Looks like you guys are having a great time! We miss you! The kids are always asking when you will be back... cute! I wish we had some good sledding here, maybe after tonight! We are hoping! Happy late birthday, Evie!
Your visit made my home a "winter wonderland"
