Squash and Snot

All the kids have colds around here so we have been home bound for several days. Wiping snot from three noses all day is quite consuming, but I'm also pulling out all my inside ideas lately so as not to go stir crazy.

Today we made Acorn Squash rings for lunch. The recipe is found here. I have really enjoyed letting the kids cook with me. Josiah is finally at the age where he can be helpful which makes up for the mayhem Eve causes. My daily goal is to do something with the kids that is new, interesting, and if possible, magical. Eve is my little veggie monger. She actually gets excited in the grocery store when she sees broccoli. She loved eating the squash.

Josiah liked the making of them better than the eating of them.

Just wondered if Josiah asked why it's called squash, and if he had a theory on that.

We've got the snot thing going on too! But we are not quite to the whole creative stage as of yet! We have been coloring and doing puzzles, but they (meaning Ayla, really) make way too much of a mess... cookies were made the other night, and Colton was great, but... Ayla was into EVERYTHING!
